Appointments
Individuals can call (919)-684-6464 during regular hours Monday through Friday (8:30-5:00pm) to schedule appointments. If you hear a recording DO NOT HANG UP. Simply leave your name, telephone number and a message and someone will respond to you as soon as possible. You may leave a recording after office hours and the message will be retrieved the morning of the next business day. The adult clinical sickle cell service holds clinics on Wednesdays and Fridays. Most appointment for sickle cell patients are scheduled for Wednesdays. Patients with hemoglobinopathies (blood disease) other than sickle cell syndrome are usually seen on Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 in the afternoon.

Emergencies
For medical emergency assistance call the Duke operator at (919) 684-8111 to request the adult hematologist on call. The Duke sickle cell center has on service hematologists who are on call 24 hours a day seven days a week. For emergencies requiring an ambulance drive to a hospital call 911 or the phone number serviced by your local area.

Urgent Needs
For urgent needs you may call the office (919) 684-6464 during clinic hours
(Wednesday 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.). Every effort will be made to see you at the clinic.
Also, patients are occasionally seen for an urgent need on Fridays (8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.).
