Patients Support Core

This core of the Duke-UNC Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center provides

Education for health care practitioners, lay audiences, patients and families.


Community Outreach - Liaison activities through the North Carolina Sickle Cell Syndrome Program and conduct of outreach community-based clinics.


Direct counseling to persons who have sickle cell disease and to pregnant patients and their spouses whose child is at risk for sickle cell disease.


Diagnostic Testing through laboratory facilities for accurate diagnosis of hemoglobinopathies.
